| Company Profile |  Set up in 1979 as Pearl Paints Ltd, and subsequently acquired by Macpherson (UK) which in turn was acquired by Akzo, the Dutch chemicals giant, the Company was acquired by Maltese interests in 1993.
The Company is currently involved in the manufacture of paints for the retail, D.I.Y. and industrial trade markets, producing under licence as well as importing and distributing a full range of high performance coatings for Akzo Nobel. The product range available includes leading brands, such as Macpherson paints and ancillary products, Crown creative paints, Sandtex masonry coatings, Permoglaze professional coatings and Sadolin wood care products.
In 1996 the Company was also appointed local distributor for the full range of International Yacht Paints & Protective Coatings, formerly part of Courtaulds and now a wholly owned subsidiary of Akzo Nobel.
A subsidiary was established in 1996 and it now operates 6 specialist Colour Mixing and Advice Centres under a number of brands. The mainstream Just Paints outlets in Fgura and B’Kara, the new Paint Depot frequented by contractors in Marsa, the island’s largest dedicated paint centre, Colours & more in Swatar and the new one to the south of the Island just off Bir-id-Deheb.
These outlets offer thousands of shades and textures instantly on their computerized mixing machines as well as a number of ancillary items including art and craft hobby paints, Italian style high build coatings together with other useful decorating sundries and tools.
This concept has also been franchised to 14 other independent retailers in the territory.
The Company is the largest employer in the local coatings market and operates from a recently refurbished 4000m² production and warehousing facility in the Bulebel Industrial Estate. |
